basics your acceptance to this community is based on the assumption that you know and understand the general rules and common courtesies of roleplaying. there is no excuse for crossing the ic/ooc line, not asking another member's permission when it comes to things such as pregnancy and death, or being a general asshole ooc. we will not tolerate anyone who makes the other members of the community feel uncomfortable for any reason. if you find yourself in a situation that makes you feel that way, let us know right away.
applying we don't require a lot, but we do require that you at least provide us with some basic information and a small blurb or detailed facts about your character when you apply. basic information should include their full name, any aliases, date of birth, where they were born, where they live, and a description of their superpowers and drawbacks or weaknesses. your character's blurb or facts should give us a little insight into their background and personality. you will also need to have both an ic post and an ooc post that have been backdated. usernames can be whatever you like, either ic or ooc. currently, we have a limit of 3 characters per person.
activity when you're accepted, you'll have three days to post something interactive. you can do this by posting an intro to code, making a social media update, posting an open scene to superhumans, or replying to an already open scene. (this will count toward your activity for the month!) if you fail to show that you're active within three days of being accepted, you'll be removed from the community. you can also be removed for failing to update your friends list for an extended period of time, failing to comment around for over two weeks, failing to check-in for an activity check, and failing to meet your monthly activity requirement. while we understand that life happens and sometimes things get in the way, please be sure to let us know if you're going to need a hiatus for a period of over two weeks. active and participating members are an integral part of any community. our monthly activity requirements are pretty laid back and can be met with an update (narrative, social media post, etc.), scene starter, or 5+ replies to a scene. all regular updates should be posted to your journal. superhumans is reserved for scenes, mod announcements, and plot posts.
scenes while you're encouraged to post scenes to superhumans, it's not required. we realize that posting scenes viewable by the entire community is no longer considered the usual, but we're hoping that it will help other members of the community get as invested in your character as you are, creating an even more collaborative and interactive environment. if you're already comfortable with the idea of posting scenes in the community, graphic adult scenes should remain private. any scenes or narratives containing extremely violent or nsfw writing should have a warning in the subject line.
plots we'll introduce a community-wide plot once a month. while we encourage you to come up with and run your own plots and subplots, we'd like you to come to us with anything that might have an impact on other characters or plots first. if you don't, we might reach out to you. it's not to discourage you! we just want to know what's up and how we can help and keep things copasetic.
events sometimes, the mods will run activities or community-wide events (e.g. galas, concerts, speed-dating, radio sweepstakes). with everything else we've got going on, however, we'd rather encourage our members to take it upon themselves to come up with activities and events for the community to participate in. let us know if you have something in mind so that we can help make it happen.
a quick note of thanks to exosolar for inspiring us!
